Airlock, Double Bubble

Double Bubble Airlock or fermentation lock as double chambers which, when filed with fluid, let CO2 out without letting nasty things like bugs, dust, pet fur, etc, in to contaminate your yummy stuff. We usually fill ours with a cheap vodka, but you can also use sanitizer, or, in a pinch, plain water. The pros of this design are the liquid in the airlock isn't as easy to suck down into the fermenter when you're moving it around and they make a wonderful bubbly sound during fermentation. The downside of this design is they're almost impossible to get clean on the inside if you have an especially vigorous fermentation that blows through the airlock...they clog easier, too, which can result in your stopper and airlock shooting to the ceiling if the pressure inside the fermenter gets too high.
